yea, it'll make bigger holes. :)

sorry couldn't resist

I have the NOE 360180gr GC boolit mould and cast some from WW's air cooled and shot them out of my whelan at about 2400fps. :)

I was hoping a deer would walk out infront of me this year but no luck.

the 358009 is also a really good shooter in my whelan.

The 35whelen is a bigger, better tempered version of the 06...what's not to love?

H414 or H4350 and the BRP 360-220 are all I need to hunt N.A.

This cartridge has been around for a long time and has had a notable history. Its the same case as the 30-06, but necked up to hold a .358 bullet that is uaually in the 250-300 grain weight range. It is substantially more powerful than the 06. A very popular cast bullet for it is/was the Lyman mold #358009 which weighs around 290 grains. When loaded into the 2000-2200 fps velocity range for the hunting of large or more dangerous game it will permanently terminate anything in the western hemisphere. Opinions vary as to whether a twist rate of 1:14 or 1:12 is desireable. Mine is a 1:12 and it shoots very accurately with the 009. You can find loading data for it in "Cartridges of the World" by Frank Barnes. LLS
