Got my first Lee sizer kit for .358 the other day. I have two lee .358 moulds that drop around .359 -.360 so I figured .358 would probably be about right for several guns I shoot. But it turns out the sizer sizes them .3575. I assumed if they were a little off, they'd be off over, not under. What is your experience with the tolerances of Lee sizers. Are they most often a little over or a little under? Or can I expect some to be right on the money?

I only own 4 of them, and they are all within .0005" of the advertised diameter.

I don't think you can expect much better, given the variety of alloys available.

They are very easy to ream to .001" oversize, but really tough to make smaller.

Most of the ones I've purchased were smaller than advertised (~ .0005-.0015). I lapped them all out to where I wanted them. A couple where right on as received. None of them were too large.

Seem to recall from the lee GBs their stated tolerance was +3thou of an inch no minus. That was not kept to very often on the GBs I was in on.

Their web site should have their current "tolerances on it.

As I've yet to shoot any of my newly sized boolits it might be a bit premature to ask this, but, can someone give me the crash course on how dies can be lapped? Or point me to a thread where this has already been hashed out? Thanks.

I know, I'm a bit OCD :-)

Click on search feature at the top of the page, type in "lapping size die", click on go. Buckshot did a good tutorial a while back if you can find it. Other good ones there too.

I haven't checked mine yet but have been meaning to but I did have a 309 that was .3085 so I aquired another and it was the same. I enlarged it to .3095 though.

Maybe if you have a real good caliper it will be with in .001
I ream mine out with a dowl and 400 to 600 grit sand paper and a drill. Also your bullets will grow .0005 after a while even after they have been sized. Try casting then size and measure after about a week or two and they will have grown a .0005
