Mike,
Try: http://www.shootingindustry.com/Pages/09FAReport.pdf

Note, I haven't finished wading through it yet. Hope it might have something for which you're looking.

Hey, Mike. Mark again.
I had downloaded the PDF a couple of days ago to read later. I sent you the URL after I read your post, and just reopened my saved copy and finished skimming through it. US production figures end at 2007, and foreign import figures end at 2008.
OH WELL :groner:

I saw a post on another site that said that the excise tax on firearms was up 29% over 2008. Prices were up also so I would guess about a 25% increase over 2008 sales. I have no confirmation on the 29% increase number. Is the tax on firearms sales listed separately from ammo sales.

I don't know how they are listed but the Pittman-Robertson Act applied the tax to firearms and ammo and it has since been extended to other outdoor sports. I personally know that ammo is included, I have an FFL06.

In a recent letter to stock holders, Ruger said their sales were up by (I believe) 28% for 2009 and they were up for the first quarter of 2010 but had slowed somewhat from the previous rate of increase. Obummer and the current congress are definitely affecting the general attitude of many US citizens.

A lot of people are becoming more interested in politics and what is going on with our country. That's a good thing for sure.

Not the actual sales figures you want, but this blog (http://shootingwithhobie.blogspot.com/) has the NICS firearm checks by month and totaled for the year (scroll down a couple of days). The checks went from 12.7 million in 2008 to 14 million in 2009; I would think that the actual sales would have increased by the same percentage.
