After you melt down your lead.
A d skim off all the floating junk.
Then toss in some wax, and then
stir with a LONG spoon or dry paint
stick.:holysheep
The wax will flame up so be ready.
After the fire goes out you stir more.
And try to scrape the bottom & sides.

every time i add more lead i toss in a chip of paraffin wax about the size of a green pee for a 10lb pot. i use the cheap gulf wax found @ the grocery store around the canning stuff.

I have enough scrap lube to use for fluxing. I use a painst stick as mentioned above, Marvelux fluxing powder, and the scrap lube.

watch those paint sticks they will spit and sputter to all, well you know.
yo gotta work them easily and a bit at a time.
anything carbon based will work fine for flux just make sure you scrape and stir well then flux whats on top then skim the surface.
i save my scrapings and throw them in my smelting pot to get back what i can.

Myself I prefer saw dust, rather then the wax, for the fluxing. But either will work as well.

In the description of fluxing I linked below, there are no numbers being used as words. The punctuation and capitalization follow the normal rules for writing in the English language. Additionally, the words used contain all of the letters they would have if found in a dictionary.
If those elements make the post unintelligible to you, my apologies.

When I was serving on a jury there was a young girl that kept notes in text and symbols. I was really impressed with her ability to record just about everything said but she had to literally translate for us old fogies. The girl claimed she could keep up with a clerk-steno trained in shorthand.
