and it was snowing and cold, so I retreated to the deepest recesses of my barn and poured the dutch oven full of wheel weights.
I found I wasn't running my pot quite hot enough today. It was tough to get a good pour, even on the ingots.
Still learning....

Wait until summer and save yourself some propane.

I have found that ambient temperature plays a large part in how well castings fill out.

Doesn't matter if it's ingot molds or boolits if your heat source is marginal during the summer it won't work in the winter!

I bought a small heater from Harbor Freight that goes on my propane tank. On those rare cold days in LA I use it to warm the garage to the point I can cast or load in comfort.

The new ones have an oxygen depleation sensor that goes off if the o2 levels drop into the danger zone.

A good idea if your heating a very tightly enclosed space!

The turkey fryer has plenty of BTUs, I just wasn't using them all or even enough.

The camera is an Olympus C-740 ultra zoom. Now discontinued.

I love my Olympus 740 too. It is a great camera but, it sure eats batteries.

Great pictures! I may find a 740 on eBay.

Actually, I would like a new camera capable of macro images. My old Konica Minolta has 10x zoom, and generally does fine, but I can't get the real close-ups I want. 'Way better than my first camera, a Kodak Pony 35. God Help, that was almost 60 years ago! I didn't think I was that old!

try drilling a 3/16 hole on the side of your ladle near the top on the side you plan pour out of then bend your ladle handle it makes pouring a lot easier

Jack Stanley,
Molly has a story. She was found abandoned in a meth lab in Casper. She was approximately 75% starved to death. I went over to the animal adoption center in Jackson to pick up a check for some work we did for them and Molly adopted me. She is about 1yr old, and has quite a few issues. She peed on the bed yesterday evening for no apparent reason. She is one of three dogs in the house, all of them "rescued" in one form or the other. They range in age from about 12 years down to Molly's one year. Molly is part German Wirehaired Pointer and part Spaniel, probably of the springer variety.

Barncasting, When we bought this place it had an unfinished 24'x24' two stall horse barn on it that had been thrown together by the previous owner. Nothing is plumb or level. I took out the horse stalls insulated it and drywalled it with electricity and lights and heat etc. as my "man cave" as Lynne calls it. I'm still working on it. SLOWLY but it serves me well. I do my smelting out in the side where my truck should be parked if there weren't so much junk in the way.

Thanks for the kind words on the pictures.
