Howdy all: I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk and have a couple of questions. I have a Lyman 429421 mould. I was wondering what size I should size my bullets? The Cylinder throats measure .432, the bore just forward of the forcing cone measures .432 (slugged) and the muzzle .4295. I have read many times to size .002 over the tightest point. I was thinking of getting a .432 sizing die. Am I close? Thanks. Tom

I think I would try .433, I like the bullet to go through the cylinder with justtttt a little help.
Also you can try .432 and see how it works. It can always be opened .001 .
The barrel will squeeze em down a little.

.432" will be fine, just use a, 432" die to remove excess lube. If you use a Lee die, just lap it out a little. Or pan lube and use a cake cutter.

There is merit in both posts. See what works. .432 sound right to me.

Any idea what size boolit your mold is throwing? You may not need to size at all.

Depending on your boolit mold and your alloy, find out what you are dropping, +1 on you may not need to size at all, just use a die that is.001 or so oversize to lube the boolits and try them.

I have good luck w/ bullets matching cyl throat size or just slightly larger. You should be fine w/ 0.432", you can always open it up a bit.

i'd try the mold first.
mine barely makes 431 [barely]
maybe with lino i could get more.

If the bullets cast out large enough, go for 432. If the bullets drop smaller than that, they might still work so at least try them w/o sizing.

In my SBHs, .431" shoots good and ,432" bullets are a bit tight to chamber./beagle

I like to run at throat diam or +.001. Sometimes this isn't easy to do. Have had
reasonable luck with throat -.001 with fairly hot loads of medium powder. My theory
is that this bumps the undersized boolit up a tad. In my experience, smaller than
throat will work but is a bit less accurate than a properly fitted boolit. May get a
touch of leading in the throats, too. Try it is the only way to tell. A key point is that
each gun is a thing unto itself, we can help you onto the path of least resistance and
highest likelihood of success, but it doesn't always work the same in your gun as in
mine or somebody else's, even the same brand and model.

My SBH likes .433 for best accy, took a custom mold to get a big enough boolit, altho
it was kinda OK on accy before I got a proper throat fit, now it is great.
