A friend forwarded this to me. It's an Antiques Road Show clip about an interesting Sharps rifle. This may be old hat to you, but I thought I'd pass it along. Don't be distracted by the other photos. The video is at the upper right.

I saw that epeisode and I have seen the rifle and guy before some where...first thing that went through my mind was another Roadshow shill.

Thanks for posting that. Although I owned a Sharps New Model 1863 carbine for 25 years and fired it some, I know virtually nothing about their pre-metallic cartridge rifles and carbines.

I was surprised that the roll cap advancing mechanism still worked. I almost hate to see someone operate these 150+ year old mechanisms. I'm always afraid I'll hear the "snap" of an old spring giving up the ghost.
