Hiya
Just wondering if anyone chronographed any 158gr Lead RN factory ammo out of a 4" revolver lately?

I think factory ammo has been loaded down a bit as of late..

Thanks!

38 special standard load, not +P, factory Winchester 158 grain SWC ran 730 fps out of my 4" 686. Kind of anemic.

Well.. That's exactly what I got from a RN load..

Thanks:smile:

People that use the airlite revolvers and especially light framed older women really need the anemic ammo. Those things can be very uncomfortable in hotter loads.
In fact my SW model 10 was no fun with the undersized orignal grips shooting 158 grain boolits at 900 fps.
Lighter boolits are more fun in plinking loads because the POI will be similar to the heavier faster loads.

.38 special factory ammo varies quite a bit. I've seen from around 650 to around 950fps.
