Folks I have a jug of this powder and would appreciate it if someone could tell me what the approximate burning rate is. I have lost the info I once had, and the distributor I bought it from was not able to help! Thanks--Shuz

Shuz, it's right in the IMR 4831 ball park.

........Shuz, mine is lot#47288 purchased from Bartlett in 1994. Shooting a 220gr cast slug with 46.0grs (full case) netted 2180 fps. That was a 29" bbl.

**Edited to add, this was in a 30-40 Krag. Cartidge info might have been helpfull. At least a little bit[smilie=b: Sorry!**

Closest I could find was a 220gr jacketed slug (bbl length unknown) and 48.0grs AA3100 gave 2168 fps.

I have found this lot to be slower then 4350 and about like some 4831.

I'd load a few loads like it was the fast lot. Check some of the data on Castpics load data.

Shuz, There were at least two lots of WC852. Mine is the stuff Bartlett listed as WC852(s) #47321, (the slow lot). When I calibrated it against H4831 and IMR 4831 in the 6.5x55 it fell right between them behind the 140 grain condoms. I had some pressure testing done and it is really better suited to the 120 grainers in the 6.5x55 as it produced higher pressure at the same charge weight and velocity compared to the 4831s behind the heavier bullets. If memory serves the faster lot was closer to 3031 in burn rate although I think they were both surplus from the 30-06 loadings. If I can get my old 'puter to cooperate I might be able to retrieve that data. BD
