Is it possible to enlarge a Lee .323 sizer die, or should I just spend the $29 to buy a .325 die from Lee??

They're $29 now??

Are you talking about the LEE push through sizer die?
Midway has them for $16. No .325 though. Open one up with emory paper, course to ultra fine,
polish to a mirror with Flitz, Simichrome, or other metal polish.

Yes $29 for a non-standard size per their web site.

What would I use to hold the emory cloth while I spin it with a drill?

Here's a good article describing what to do.

Click on "articles by members" in the (left side) menu, and then click on "The versatility of Lee sizing dies"

To enlarge.
Masking tape about a 2x2" piece of sandpaper/e. cloth to straight steel shank a little smaller than ID of die. Use coarse grit first about 200-400. Oil. Palm the die while adding a little side pressure to rotating shank while moving up and down against shank. Switch to 600 grit. Switch to 1000-1500 grit. Oil each time. Check often by slugging die. It isn't too hard to take .002 out of one. The 1000-1500 grit is pretty smooth but can go smoother with polishing compound.

I only reload for my 45/70 right now using a lee loader. Can these dies be used without a press like the old style hammer through sizing kits?

Lee did a good job on the custom die they made for me. They quoted 4 weeks & delivered in 2. My advice would be to either find someone with a lathe that knows how to cut a good clean bore that's on size, like Buckshot, or else just buy one from Lee.

Buckshot makes them to customer spec @ +/- .0003 for $23 to the door. He's made several of them for me as well as M die buttons and other special order parts. I'm very pleased with his work. His turn around has normally been about 2 weeks from the time I get the check in the box till what ever I ordered shows up here. Most of that is time spent with things being in a mail bag.
