I dropped by the local (Cincinnati, Ohio) Bass Pro. They have the "Fish/Turkey Fryer" on sale for $29.84. That is about as cheap as you are apt to find this. I have an identical burner and it works very well with a Harbor Freight Cast Iron Dutch oven (12" diameter, six quart, that'll hold well over 100 lbs of molten lead).

Just a "heads up" for those that have been waiting to buy...

Thanks Dale,
I need to hit the Rossford (Toledo) store and hopefully they have them also on sale.

Just don't buy anything else, too expensive :-). They did have some jackets for like $30 that were not too bad :-).

Cabelas has the BH209 powder, if you want to lose your lunch look at the price on it at Basspro :-).

Did you notice the last sentence about ALUMINUM construction?
Not sure that's a good idea. Prolonged heating time and the addition of wind shield might make the weight we expose it to dangerous.

Agreed my twenty dollar turkey fryer is all good Chinese steel.

It would be easy enough to check (with a magnet) before committing to buying. Mine is steel and looks exactly like the pictured one. Of course, the utensils are aluminum and are NOT to be used to smelt lead under ANY circumstances.

I added a Harbor Freight Cast Iron Dutch Oven. I have done over 1000 lbs with my set up.

I would suggest to ANYONE to make sure whatever you buy is sturdy before you plunk down your "hard earned"...

This item is still on sale. Any reviews from someone who bought one?

That fish fryer at Bass Pro looks exactly like the one I have (I also bought it from Bass Pro). I have smelted over 1000 lbs of WW's, scrap lead and foundry lead with mine this past year. It is a DANDY.

In my estimation, it is a terrific buy on a REALLY nice piece of equipment for our use.

Thanks for the info. Just got back from Bass Pro with fish fryer in hand. Why is it that I always go for one item and return with a bag full ;-)

Are you the Dale that shoots steel at MR&P?

I have shot, over the years, at Middletown Sportsmen Club but not for several years. My home club is The Butler County Sportsmen Rifle & Pistol Club in Hamilton, Ohio.

So, it must be another Dale.
