Well,
I think i have the .45 colt loading mastered to a point, so i'm looking to move in a little. Is it possible to cast and load a cast bullet for a .22-250? Going at 4000 fps?
Also, what about a .308? Can i get some info on these?

Thanks!!:lovebooli

For my 2 cents here i would stick to Jacketed bullets for 4000 ftps.
Cast bullets run from low 1100 to high as 2300 i've never needed to shoot em any faster.
Casting bullets and shooting @ low Vel. means you save $$ on lots of powder Vs shooting @ high velocity. Also low Vel. makes a bbl last longer than say the 3-4K ftps range.
Ive seen $1000.00 bbls shoot cast bullets @ 1500-2000 ftps and have 20K bullets though it!
If you up the Vel. then you will wear it out quicker and not have as much fun either.

.308.....Contact me on what you would like to know..

308 is almost a perfect cast boolit cartridge. I tend to prefer heavier boolits for all my rifles as that way I can keep velocity down and still have enough punch to do what I want. In 308 you need to be aware of your groove diameter and twist rate in order to properly match boolit to rifle. Leave the uber high velocity loads to someone else and enjoy shooting more.[smilie=s:

I shoot my .22 Hornet around 2400 fps and have gone as high as the other side of 2600. Going faster is possible, but will be a real education if you go there. I to have a 22-250 and may some day try cast in it in the mid 2k's.

.308 should be a real cast friendly gun.

A 22-250 @ 4000 fps would be at least 58,000 cup. Divided by 1422 would equal a boolit hardness or 40 BHN or double linotype. I don't think you are going to get there without a lot of bore cleaning afterwords.
I really like my 308 and have had good results shooting 113-170 gr boolits. I have used it in both Antelope and Deer with 150 gr boolits @ 2000 fps.
