I stopped by the shop I normally buy my Black powder from, yesterday.

I was under the impression it had really gone up but it is still $16.00 a pound there. That's Goex which is the only thing they stock.

What's everyone else paying?

I order through Graf's. The prices for the BP are under $15 for GOEX and under 14 for Grafs. By the time I add Hazmat and shipping its around $20.00 a can.

I was paying $19.90 until December. Then it went to $21.60 a can.

Maybe I should stock up on a little more. Looks like this price is as good as it gets right now.

Mail order is my only option, so I usually buy Graf's BP 10 pounds at a time, which comes out to $16/pound, but www.powderinc.com has Goex for $16.90 per pound including hazmat/shipping in 10 pound lots. Either way I pay about $16-17/pound shipped.

Local prices were rapidly approaching $30.

I bought a case of Diamondback for $10/# delivered, just because I wanted to have some here. It seems to be of good quality.

Have you shot any of it yet? Just wondering what it is like.

I checked Graf's last evening. House brand $13.29, Swiss $21.95

Shipping and handling cost $4.50 online, $6.95 on phone.

25 pound limit (for BP), hazmat $20 or $22.50

I usually get mine at Friendship in the spring and fall. I wonder what the prices will be this year?

I burned a little over a pound of it so far, chasing whitetails the last few weeks. I would say it is a good product, not Swiss, but my checkbook doesn't allow me to buy Swiss on a regular basis.

On par with good Goex, of Wano.

Why "stock up"?
"Stocking up" always just creates artificial demand that leads to shortages and price increases. The people running around with their hair on fire recently and who have been "stocking up" on all the popular cartridge rounds and cartridge guns have created the inflated price increases and shortages we have now. Not necessary. JMO.

There's a big difference between stocking up and hording.

I don't think adding ten pounds is going to cause the price to jump. It may save me a few dollars over the year.

Ireally wish I had stocked up on Swiss when it was available here. I have a half pound left.

Cool. Yes there is a difference. I just wish the "horders" would put the fire out that they made and carry around on their heads.

I doubt that BP is one of the things high on the hoarders list like smokeless and primers. It has been available all along. I make a special trip to my distributor to pick up BP and I get as much as he can sell me. Mainly to get the same lot, but secondarily to save money. With the current administration and the fact that BP was almost regulated out of existence a couple years ago, staying ahead on quantities makes sense to me.
As to the primer issue I went through this once before and I didn't get caught flat footed this time. I normally buy pretty large quantities anyway so I just doubled up the last order. You might call me a hoarder but personally I blame it on my Boy Scout youth.

People that keep a decent prudent reserve of powder, primers, and shot have helped smooth out the shortages.
