View Full Version : Tell me about my Marlin?

My Christmas persent to myself is an 1895 Marlin in 45-70.
It has a straight wood stock with no checkering, hard plastic butt plate.
It's blued with the top of the receiver a matt finish.
No crossbolt safety.
The barrel's been cut down to 19 inch's with iron sight's and has 12 land's and groove's.
The serial number is 26065271.
I know it's not rare but I am curious as to how old it is.

sounds like an 1895 S, I bought mine in 1980

On the barrel where the caliber is listed all it say's is 1895 45-70.
Do the modern one's have the letter's stamped in this row?

Your rifle was made in 1974 (subtract the first two digits from 100).
