I have a TC .54 Renegade that I'm thinking about putting a Green Mountain .50 1:28 twist barrel on. Does anyone have experience shooting either the Lee improved minie or the 325 grain REAL bullit out of a similar barrel/twist?

I have a Remington 700ML Inline .50 cal with 1:28 twist and it shoots under 2" groups at 100 yards with a 4X scope and 370 grain Thompson Center Maxi-ball conical boolits I cast out of pure lead.

The lee C-501-440-RF is the bullet I use in my GM barrel. I paper patch it and size it to .501 no lube. I load it with 80 gr of pyrodex P and a over powder wad. Shoots fantastic. Ron

Gray Fox, My .50cal. Knight Bighorn rifle has a Green Mtn. 1:28" twist bbl., but it didn't shoot either of the .50cal. Lee REAL's or their .50cal. Improved Minie particularly well because all 3 molds cast bullets that were undersized for that bbl. The accuracy I got with Maxi-Balls (cast from 2 Lyman & 1 T/C mold) was outstanding @ 50 yds. However, if the REAL's cast large enough to fit your bbl., they will be the equal of Maxi-Balls.

I have a 1/28 twist TC Firehawk and until this year it was my only inline. It shoots most any full size conicals with good accuracy. It particularly likes the "belt" boolits from 245 to 348 gr. It gives real good accuracy with the 405 and 444 gr also but recoil is objectionable in the light gun. The Hornady 385 great plains shoots good too. I have the 270 gr REAL/maxi hunter mould from one of the sponsors here. It shoots so good I don't have to buy commercial conicals any more. I haven't tried any mini boolits in the TC. I shoot a 300 gr. 45 in a sabot and it is really good with that too. Mostly I have found that each boolit has a certain charge range that shoot best. Pick a boolit you like and begin the testing. I suggest you start at 70 gr of FFF and work up in 5 grain increments. OH yeah, I stick with the holy black too. ( except in my Savage ML II) 10 ga

How many wraps of what thickness paper are you using ?? And what kind of alloy are you casting them in ?? I happen to have that mold and I was considering altering it in the lathe into something groove dia for my TC Omega. I just slugged my bbl today and it is .511 groove dia.

I think paper patching would be worth a try before I alter the mold, I also have a 500 s&W handi rifle that I actually bought the mold for.

My rifle has the QLA (built in false muzzle) feature which measures .515 ID.
