I just slugged the bore of my AK47 and it is .313. If I am correct, if I want to used cast bullets, I need to cast a bullet that is .314. What is the max size bullet you can reload in a 7.62x39mm shell? Any info would be great.

FYI: If reloading costs me twice as much as buying ammo, I would still reload. Some passions never die.

To find the MAX for your rifle
You will have to slug the neck area of your chamber

Form memory My SKS will take at least a .316 bullet
Even though I only need / use a .313 dia boolit for the bore
As I remember it has a .311-.3115 bore

Even easyer to get a greneral idea of what your chamber will take
Is to mic the inside of a fired case mouth ( BRASS case )
Take off about 2 thousand's for clearance and you will have about what the max dia boolit you can use
There is some brass spring back
But the easy test will give you a place to start

Thanks for the info. I plan to take it out this week with factory ammo. Since the bore is .003 over the Boolits, I'm not expecting much. I'll measure the ID of the neck after. What mold do you use?
