Lasercast is a brand name. I have a friend that uses them. I don't think that they are any better than the run of the mill for most applicatins. They are pricey though, compared to most commercial casters

I bought a bunch some years back. Fell for the "silver bullet" ad hype hook, line and sinker. I think I shot maybe 50 and spent a lot of time getting the leading out of my barrel. I melted them all.

Nothing special in truth. They're just nicely cast commercial boolits, but they were way undersized for my guns and too hard to obturate with the loads I used.

Prior to starting to cast my own, and discovering this site, I had the same experience at Bret4207.

I actually went to qualify with all my loads in those.
It was an horrible day!
On a speed trial, I had stove pipes, jams, and leading like nothing else.
I passed, but barely.
Today is different. I have sized the bore, I size to fit well, watch my alloy. Today my loads are as predictable as commercial.
20yrs ago, it was different.

Laser Cast makes good bullets, but a lot of folks that buy their cast bullets get caught up in the idea that a cast bullet has to be HARD in order to not lead a barrel. There is a time and a place for ultra hard bullets, but you will get flame cutting around the base if they are under-size which leads to leading as they don't obturate to fit the bore and seal off the hot gasses.

I have used the Laser Cast 350 grain .458 bullets in my 500-450 as they fit well and were hard enough to drive at 2000 FPS. If their bullet fits the bore properly you shouldn't get leading at any practical velocity.

Their 240gr LSWCBB bullet shoots well out of my Redhawk with 6.7gr of Trail Boss (1000fps out of my gun, a tad faster than advertised). They push through the cylinder throats with light finger pressure. No leading and accurate. I'd buy more if not for getting into casting.

I've used quite a few of them in years past, as they're made here in Oregon.
Back in the day I had my casting stuff packed away and didn't want to mess with it, and lasercast bullets were cheap enough. I think I only used .38 and .45, and they worked OK, but I'm not into serious shooting, mostly just plinking.

I sure wouldn't pay the high price they want for them now, though.

They worked fine in a 32-20 Savage Sporter that has a tight bore.

They are so hard that they will shatter before they deform. One or two 115gr 32-20 bullets at 1600fps will topple a 4 inch sapling. The bullets shatter into slivers that spread out quickly and shred the tree fibers.

I shot lasercast with good results in a couple of guns.
Then they priced themselves out of my budget and I went back to casting my own.

I don't think that anyone can complain on lasercast quality. Their price is beyond the customary limit. If second best is more than good enough, why pay double for the best/

Lazer cast are ok, but frankly, I shoot better with the ones I cast myself.

I bought into the hype of Lazercast as well. Poor accuracy and leading were the outcome. I held them to their guarantee of running them as fast as j-bullets. Loaded some in 44 Spec. and Mag and was sorely dissapointed! My straight WW boolits trump anything I have ever bought.

They were the gateway drug to me casting my own.

They were the gateway drug to me casting my own.

Same for me. The 180 gr TC shot acceptably well out of my 10mm's, but my own bullets shoot better and lead less.

I use LC Bullets in my 38-55 model 94 for Cowboy Rifle Silhouette. They make them in different diameters and I use .380 for my rifle. My load is 10.6 gr of Unique for a velocity of about 1250fps. They are accurate in my rifle and I have won lots of matches with them. On May 9th I set a new senior record for the long run on pigs in NRA Cowboy Rifle Silhoouette hitting 46 in a row with this load and the LC bullets.

I don't use them the way they come out of the box. I lube them wit Lee Liquod Alox, over the blue stuff that comes on them. Since I started re-lubbing them I have had no leading problems. They are expensive but if you buy them on the LC web sight you get them cheaper than retail and they pay the freight, which makes them somewhat reasonable. I bought two boxes of them at a gunshow last month for 25 bucks each so I will have them around for awhile.

I've shot lot's of LC bullets over the years. With the PB'd leading always occured. I would either lube them with LLA as does six gun or I wash the hard wax lube off and relube in a 450 with Javelina. Never had any leading with them after either method. With the GC'd ones if driven to 1800+ velocities the hard wax lube seemed to work and I got no leading with reasonable loads. I used those in 30-30, .308W and '06. They are indeed cast hard but it is the hard wax lube that causes the leading. It is the same with most all commercial cast bullets I've used over the years.

What is the BHN on those anyway? I never did check it.

I've used them extensively. My favorite is a 405 grain bullet I use in .45/70's. As Elk hunter stated earlier, you must get the correct diameter for your guns bore. If you do, lasercast bullets work just fine.

I've got a box and they all check right at 22brn.

Great bullet if driven to top end speeds, atleast in my exp. I loaded some up to run around 950 fps in my winny 45lc I leaded the barrel from end to the other with one tube full of them rounds.

But on the other hand our hunting load that runs around 1350fps group well and I got just normal lead specs out with a wet patch.

But now that I've got a great boolit mold for our 45lc's we just use our boolits and run them at what ever speed we like(with in reason of course).

I don't do a lot of Bullseye shooting, but I use Lasercast 200 gr SWCs as part of my 50 yard load. They shoot 1 1/2" from a rest with my Les Baer Wadcutter at 50 yards.
