So I was over at the Keewenaw Co/op today and happend to meet an oldtimer who is a bee keeper. We got talkin bout bees and I mentioned off hand that I was lookin fer beeswax. He replied that he could get me sum and how much was I offer in? I said .25 cents a pound sounded reasonable and he agreed. Next he asked me the fate full question "How much you want"? I told him "Awww, 1 to 1.5 would be good"; "pounds?" he asks. "tons" I replied, I swear he just about fainted. He stutterd back with "uh, uh, let me see what my friends' got layin around". He didn't waste anytime leavin. I gave him my info, we'll see where this goes. At least I finally found somebody that the candle yuppies hadn't got to already.:drinks:

Hard to imagine someone with a ton of beeswax laying around that doesn't know what it's worth, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Good luck!

I swear he just about fainted:

That reminds me of when the girl scouts used to come knocking with cookies and my mum would say I'll take one...........one packet..........hell no, 1 carton. The poor little girls didn't know what to do.

LOL! at .25 a pound it'll cost more than twice as much to ship it as to buy it. Of course, you could turn half of it around on eBay and get your whole nut back.

If this does pan out, I could go for 1000 lbs or more, maybe way more. We will need to know what condition the wax is in. Is it full of dirt and bee's and honey residue? Or has it been filtered and nice and clean?

I don't want to hog all of it, so if there is some left over after the individual users get there's then drop me a line please. It's abit too far for me to drive and pick it up, but if someone was to help get it on a truck, I would be more than happy to compensate them.

I'm down to about 200# of Bob's wax and I have about 300# that needs to be cleaned and filtered first.

thanks
Glenn.

I filtered some beeswax last year , not hard but a mess .

I have a idea for my next time .

this wax is unfilter, I found the easiest way to filter is use a pot of boiling water. THe wax floats and the crap sinks.

Do you just let the pot cool after and pull the wax cake out?
