Is this Lee boolit http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=263780 an exact copy of Lyman's 358156 or something similar? Anyone have any experience with this one?

I will someday own some Lyman molds, but for now am trying to keep the costs down in my new hobby and Lee seems to fill the bill.

Something similar. The Lyman 358156 has two crimp grooves.

All the molds work. Some just work better than others.:bigsmyl2:

Oh, don't worry! My first two molds are from Lee and I have zero issues with them. It's just that some of the Lyman moulds have so much history and so many followers, its hard not to wish for some!

I just thought that this Lee gas checked design would be similar to 358156 without spending 3 to 4 times the $$$ .

I've used this mold and tested both with and w/o gas checks. Couldn't tell any difference in accuracy, and with plinking loads leading was not any concern.

I plan to load this boolit in a friends '81 Browning 358 Winnie.

+1 for 462. I've used that boolit in my BH for 30+ years.

This particular Lee bullet seats further into the case than the Lyman. If you are shooting max loads might behoove you to throttle them back a bit, as internal case volume is somewhat less than with the Lyman.
Good shooting
