vortex and hunter scopes?

Anybody know anything about either of these Scopes? My little nephew is getting a single shot rifle for Christmas and I would like to get him a scope somewhere in the $70.00 to $100 range. I won't waste my time or his with a tasco and I really don't want a simmons but I have heard good things about vortex, nothing about hunter but the specs sure do sound good. Please enlighten me.

Ive looked through a Vortex and a Loopy in a SxS comparison at the shooting range. The Vortex was clearer and brighter to my eye and to about 6 other people there. These scopes were both a week old. Two buddies bought new Heavy Barrelled ARs for PD hunting and each got a new scope. The guy with the loopy was not happy as he had spent more $ and clearly got less scope. RD

Thanks for the info guys. I ended up getting a Bushnell trophy, with a bore sight kit $90.00. Thought that was a pretty good deal.
