30 Herrett Cast Loads

any recomendations on Cast Boolit weight and Loading data

Not sure of the twist rate its a factory TC barrel..

Using for target , Plinking , Possible hunting...

Have 30 cal moulds
115 Gr lyman
120 Gr Lee
165 Gr RCBS
200 Gr Lee

The leads or free bore in most Herretts usually dosen't lend it's self very well to the ligh bullets.
With The RCBS 165 Sil. powders would be 4227, 4759,5744, and 2400
With the 200 add RL #7, and 4198
165 start with 15.0 of the powders listed above
200 start with 13.0 4227, 16.0 of RL # 7, 14.0 4759 & 5744
See if you can find a copy of RCBS's # 2 cast bullet manual and the Lyman's cast bullet loading manual.

I bought a box years ago of a thousand 120-gr roundnose plain base commercial bullets as a plinking and small game bullet. They shoot wild indeed if I push them at any speed at all. But they are adequately accurate if I throttle them way down.

So far, my Super 14 Herrett likes 6.0 of Clays. I may not have ever chrono'ed them, because that space in my loading log is blank. Somewhere near six grains of Clays, RedDot, Bullseye or any similar powder might work well for you with a similar bullet. I have never tried any heavier cast bullet, favoring a 125-135 gr jacketed for other purposes.
