I need suggestions for a good load for a Yugo M48 mauser using the Karbiner boolit and IMR3031 powder. Something aproximately equivalent to 16 grains of Alliant 2400 which works for me. This is for a friend in the wilderness who has no access to anything else.

I tried some IMR 3031 in my 06' in that speed range recently and ended up with " hang-fires ". I gave up on it. Might be better off to fly in some 2400 to him.

A 3031 load......approximating 16 grains of 2400.... will be somewhat dangerous to shoot, without filler. I am NOT recommending that you use 3031 in this application, anyway.....as the load will be way too light to get good combustion. However, if you MUST , then do use a tuft of cotton or dacron wool, enough to fill up the empty space (and keep the powder charge at the base of the case). I doubt that you'd get good results with this powder switch, though.

Heck, I never could get good results with the 8mm Karabiner bullet with 2400 (any charge)....in my M48....let alone any other powder.
