What ratio should I mix pure lead and linotype to get a good alloy for low to medium velocity boolits. I have 2 5gal buckets of lino but now all I am able to find is pure lead. My scrap yard is helpful and will put aside what ever I need when it comes in. A pan of Baklava also helps.:p

A 50/50 will make hardball. You can mix 1 lino to 3 lead to get a (Wheel Weight) a hardenable or semihard boolit. Lino is 4% tin so you may have to add tin to make up the difference if cut 4 to 1. Most believe in about 2% tin

I run 50/50 WW to range lead water dropped. No leading in .30 cal.rifle boolits at 2000 fps.

Usually run at less than 1750 for accuracy. Pistol boolits at 3:1 range lead to WW water dropped. No leading.

3 parts of pure to one part lino will give you a 1% tin and 3% antimony for about 11 bhn.
perfect for revolver rounds and waterdropped for rifle rounds.

See this thread for info related to calculating BHN and post #12 for an Excel spreadsheet which is useful for determining the ratios to mix the various lead alloys to obtain a desired outcome. The spreadsheet contains reference data in addition to the formulas.
