Given three nose shapes, a SP, a FN and a truncated nose, all three bullets will have the same nose and band Dia. and % of bore riding to bullet length being within 5 % for all three bullets, and driven to 1400 & 1800 FPS will one nose shape be much more accurate that the others, at 110,155 and 220 yards.
Thanks Bammer

forgot to say how far you're shooting?

At those velocities and at 100 yards in my .38/55, I've had good luck with all three shapes.

Depending on the intended use, the truncated is a very useful all around shape.

The FN is probablt better for hunting.

The SP, although it shoots well normally is sometimes a bit finicky./beagle

The bullets in question are these http://http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=65839&page=2
one question I'll have to ponder on is the B.C. of both as far as knock down power on big bore silhouette pigs at 110 yards, and accuracy on turkeys at 165 yards.
The alatar shows my shooting stance useing a 10" T/C in 30-20 [32-20-.308 bore]
At one time I was semi young and didn't mind a little recoil ,that I am now more mature [smilie=b: , but one only lives once.

I can't get the link to work. I'll try it later. I would think the TC nose boolit would be good for distance. In this case is SP Soft Point or Spire Point?? That is, a Pointed Soft Point.

The link goes to page 2 of the closed Group Buy, .314-129, it show's two versions a Flat Point and a Spire Point=SP

JLJ,
Thanks, although they are a little light by most cast bullet bench rest standards, they will serve my purpose just right, I wonder if there is a way to figure BC of both thoses bullets ??

I have noticed that semi wad cutters are very accurate at pistol ranges. Up to 50 yards. Then I got the 190 grain Ranch Dog .360 rnfpgc boolit. Turned the old Rossi carbine into a virtual target rifle at longer ranges. To 100 yards. Used H110. Very noticeable accuracy gain. This was with open iron sights, if you are using apeture sights or a scope you could get closer to a scientific test.
This was not much of a test just was very accurate with the longer boolits. Best I have ever shot with this rifle. Could have been several different factors. I have found THE load for this gun. Sometimes a man just gets lucky.
