I just picked up a .270 barrel at Gunbroker to put on a Mauser action. Even though it will be quite some time before I get it all together, I started looking for molds (the RCBS 270-150-sp looks like a winner) and gas checks. Since Midsouth and Midway don't show any, am I correct in assuming that Hornady has discontinued .270 gas checks? :(
Doing some more looking I found a couple references to .270 molds having .253 GC shank and 7mm molds having .250 GC shank. So, can 7mm gas checks be used on .270 molds?

Anyone ever paper patch for a .270?

Griz, paper patch it.
You will do better than cast.

we did a Gator check group buy a couple months ago. You might take a look to see if Blammer still has them listed.
Generaly a 7mm check will not fit on a .270 shank. Although I have one old Lyman mould that drops bullets that can take a 7mm check with some force. Still to much trouble forcing them on. Checking bullets is enough to drive me gaga anyway.

Midsouth says they have Hornady's in stock (6mm, 270 and 348 gas checks are in their "Yardsale" section)
