I have just acquired a Contender barrel that I am going to shoot only cast bullets with. This is a used barrel and has had jacketed shot through it. I remember reading somewhere that barrels will shoot cast bullets better if the copper is cleaned out. Is this true? Is there a prefered method to do this? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

That's some good info, although it tends to run a little off topic at time. It is interesting reading. Thanks

IHMSA, if you stick around you will realize that we specalize in off topic rambling. That's what makes it interesting.

I am finding that out....it's great though, you ask one question and get answers for six. Plus a whole bunch of other interesting facts. :D

For bores with heavy copper I use "Wipe-Out" foam bore cleaner. Fill the bore with foam, let set overnight, patch out. Has worked well for me for over 10 yrs.
