Hi to all,

I'm brand new to this forum, but not to reloading have over 45 years experience in most reloading situations

I recently aquired a Herters 8MM 176 gr GC Spitzer mold to use in my K98, I slugged the barrel and have .312 - .313 on the lands, and .323 - .324 on the grooves, out of the mold the bullet diameters are running .330

Questions:

1) What would be an ideal sizing die for this bore using gas checks.

2) Would the Lee push thru dies work OK (since I'm unable to locate a top punch for a 8MM spitzer, I did triy a 30 cal punch but it left a large ring around the tip)

Any suggestions would be appreciated........nice forum !!

Best advice I can give you is to measure the inside diameter of the caseneck from a casing that was fired in your rifle. Then just size to that diameter or .001" below that diameter.

Learned this trick from one of the members here and it works like a charm with the old milsurps.

Hope this helps,:-D

Welcome aboard, sir!

I have an 8 x 57 rifle with measurements identical to yours, and the Lee 175 grain boolit shoots quite well when sized to .325", a regular-stock item with Lyman I think.
