Some time ago, I had a welder friend make up a large ingot mould for me. It really speeds up the process when smelting and the five pound ingot work quite well in my 20 lb RCBS electric bottom pour pots. We used 2" angle iron and it is 6.25" wide and the sides are 9" long. This casts three ingots. I now have several Lyman, Saeco, and RCBS common one lb. ingot moulds and a Lee with two one pounders and two 1/2 pounders. With that combination, it is extremely fast and easy to formulate particular alloy.

You can see that I have been busy with all kinds of cast bullets, lately. Ain't it
grand?:mrgreen:

For some reason, the program keeps rejecting my picture file. I have resized it a dozen times but no cigar. I will try in the next frame.

Dale, are we looking at the cavity side? Kinda looks upside down to me. I was thinking about having the same idea made up but in a size to fit .50 cal ammo cans, out of 1.5" angle iron. I forget what I calculated them to weight but they would be about 11" in length and about 1.5" on a side. They would fit nicely into an ammo can but would surely be a bit of a "load"!

Are your ingots 2" on a side and 6.5" in length and weight five pounds?

Trooperdan;
The 2" dimension is outside measure (that's the way angle iron is measured). You are looking at the cavity side. They are 6 1/4" wide and the sides are 9" long. The ingots have a nominal weight of five lbs. One of the beauties of this type material and construction, is you can make up any size and shape that you want. Scraps are nearly always big enough to use so cost should be minimal.

Dale53, What can you tell me about the 3 CB's on the left? I.e., are they ~185gr. wadcutter for the .44Spl. and/or .44mag. by any chance? If so, how do they perform?

Those are from an old single cavity Lyman mould and cast .456". They were intended for older .45 Colt's. I only recently cast any and will try them if it ever quits raining around here.
