I've loaded some .44 Mag with 310gr cast and 21.5 gr of 296, and should try them this weekend. I assume that they will be a real 'handful' :-)

At same time, I'd like to load some 250gr cast in both Mag and Special, but can't find good load data for this boolit for either.

Thanks,

Randy

That's a right hefty .44 load and nasty on the ears as well out of a 4" M29. I shot some 317 grain Keiths with that load out of mine for a while and beleive me, it was all that was needed for Kentucky./beagle

I've used that same load as well. I used 22 gr. H110 with the Lyman 300 SWC, (weighs about 312 out of my mold.) It is a very accurate load. The most accurate I've ever shot out of my 4 5/8 Blackhawk Here it is with that same load, shot out of my lawn chair at 25yds. about 3 months ago

My range is right outside the house, so Kick back in lawn chair, Blaze away. Have to be careful about propping the feet up, though, fella could shoot his toes off!¡:bigsmyl2:

I have used the .44 Magnum for years. Long ago I settled on a 240-250 Keith bullet ahead of 23.0 grs of H110 for practice (1200 fps) and 24.0 grs for hunting (1300 fps). Max given by Hodgdon, at the time, was 25.0 grs.

I sure wish I could shoot out back of my house. Unfortunately the range would be limited to about 75 yds with my neighbor’s house as a backstop.

I've been using the Lyman 429244 gc ahead of 23.0 of H-110 for a while now, and like it quite a bit. Not max, but very accurate.

That's indeed a stouter load than I'd shoot!
When I go to a heavyweight in the .44mag, I use the SSK 310 plain base and load 15.8g of WC 820. OAL is 1.710, and primers are CCI-350. The velocity out of a 5 1/2" Ruger SBH is 1092fps. That's enuf "fun" for this old guy!

Bucks Owin, what range was that? What gun obtained this?
I get a target or two like that at 25 yds with a 4" S&W 29, but if thats at 50 yds, I'd like to congratulate you.

I shoot the Lee c 310 over 20.3 gr. of 296 lubed with orange magic. OAL is 1.71". At 25 yds. 3 shot groups touch holes in a beautiful cloverleaf. Gun is a 1980's Ruger Redhawk 7.5"
