220 grain cast bullet in krag using reloder 19?

My Handi Krag shoots 220 grain hornady J bullets really well with
near max load of reloder 19 at about 2100 fps.

I have some gas checked 311284 lyman at 220 grains.

Is there a good chance the same powder will work for cast bullets of
similar weight and shape?

Who know...But the RE 19 should do well with heavy cast.

I think it will. The velocity you are getting with the Hornady bullet is at the upper end of non heat treated cast bullet velocities. I would back off a few grains of powder and work up from there. Checking for accuracy, leading, and velocity, if you have access to a chronograph as you progress. I have had good luck with the 311284 in my 1899 Krag carbine with 4759 powder. I only load to 1500-1600 fps range with this bullet in the Krag.
