has anyone made 30 caliber hollow points in lead bullets using a drill press

Yes, but you need a centering jig and some way to hold the case. I made one that goes on my case trimmer because it's easier with the shell holder. I replaced the pilot with a drill and turned a centering jig out of aluminum stock. The inside is cone shaped and fits over the drill. The stop on the trimmer can be set to the desired depth. I could chuck the end of the shaft in a drill if I wanted to, but it's not really necessary. Forster has a hollow pointing rig that fits on their trimmers, but my works well and was easily made. Having your mould fitted with a hollow pointing pin by Buckshot is a lot easier than HPing loaded rounds.

FWIW, you can buy 1/8" and 1/4" hollow pointing tools from Forster if your trimmer happens to take their size of pilot...(different from RCBS BTW)
