Ok I just got enough cash to order a sizer. Now second question on which lubes work through it best. I have on hand right now a couple of sticks of the old 50/50. I don't have a heater so some of the harder lubes are out. I load mostly pistol with cat right now. Will keep the lyman for 6.5 and .30. How does BAC go through the star.

Very easy if you are working at room temps. BAC will need heat if in an outside building. It's about the best lube you can buy and use. The old 50/50 will give off smoke to where BAC is almost smokeless if used with a powder like CLAYS. Very clean shooting also.

I will be lubing in the basement,60 to 70 deg.

I now have a heater on my Star but for many years I used only a light bulb against the side of the lube reservoir during cold temps (here that is 45-50 degrees). It worked well but the heater is much more convienent and compliments the air pressure system nicely.

Is this Star sizer that I read about on this forum the same thing as the Magma Eng. Star?
I saw a vid of one that a guy had air and feed tubes. He was making a hand at sizing the boolits too!
Lubing with a Lyman 450 is a painfully slow thing.

Yes, that is essentially the same machine. They are a superb machine.

I have a climate controlled house and size in the basement shop. I use Lars White Label Carnauba Red and it DOES require heat. 50/50 lube does NOT require heat in the STAR and does a good job but I have come to prefer the higher melting point of the Red.

I guess I can live with the lyman a bit longer since it costs $250.00 + about %250 more to get what I want with it. I'm not giving up on it though.
