I have some 148grDEWC that shoot lights out in 38Spl cases but I can't get them to shoot worth a flip in my 357 cases. Same pistol (S&W 586).

Tried upping my 38 load by 10% and worked around there.

I found two or three powders that clicked in the 38 cases. Any suggestions for the 357 cases?

I had them seated flush in the 38s. Should I still seat them flush in the 357s?

If you were seating WCs flush in 38spl which is typical and in your 357 brass are not seated all the way down, you have changed your case capacity by a lot more than 0.100" difference between the 2 cases. The wadcutters may be too clost to the cylinder throat to start with. Even SWC RN FN all do not engage the throat without a jump to it. It is possinle that a WC not deated near flush could act entirely different.

Just for fun and I gotta share this: I loaded 2 grains bullseye with 100 grain WCs in 38 spl. They sound like a loud cap gun and the boolit still gets to the 25 yd targer pretty quick.

I would keep them as they are and clean the chambers after use. I have used 38 & 357 interchangebly in my guns since the 70's without any problems.

Update. Switching to SPP primers did the trick. My normal 38 loads in the 357 brass worked well as did the 38 loads+ 0.1gr of both the Bullseye and the 700X. Loaded the WCs to the first crimp groove (just a little protruding from the case) and used a light crimp.
