I just tried out some new smokeless Bayou bullets made by Donnie Miculek. I used a 6 inch Ruger GP100 357 mag., iron sights at 38 yards. The bullets are hard coated in a green "something" with no lube on them. They measured .357 in diameter. Donnie says he shoots them in a .30 carbine at 1900 FPS with no issues. I tried 2 different powders, 5 shots each load, 14.5 grns. H110 averaged 1237 fps with a 2 inch group, 15.0 H110 averaged 1255 fps with a 2 3/4 inch group. 2400 powder with 13.5 grns averaged 1316 fps with a 1 (one) inch group, mysteriously 14.0 averaged 1356 with a 5 inch group, and last 14.5 grns averaged 1419 fps with a 2 inch group. No signs of high pressure was noticed on the cases or primers. After each 5 shot firing, I checked for any signs of leading and after the 25 rounds were fired, no signs of any fouling. I did notice that the gun was much cleaner, almost no powder residue as to shooting Mid-States lead cast bullets I have shot. I did not notice any smoke after each shot either. I am really impressed with these bullets, both accuracy and how clean they are. I don't know the hardness but am going to try to take a deer next weekend with them.
