i was casting with a large ladle (20lb) for melting, on top of a screw on propane burner. using a small ladle (1lb) to pour in the mould.

got into a good rhythm, had about 100 cast(70% or so keepers) when my ladle tipped over!

i was using my wood bed trailer as a table, and that lead went every where! got on all my good boolits too!

didnt loose much lead, just a bit that ran onto the butane lighter that was sitting there, i grabbed and threw it fast!

didnt get much splash, just pour, and run.

didnt get any on me, but i learned my lesson. im gonna buy an electric bottom pour pot now.

You don't nessissarily need an electric pot but you do need a better set. I cast for years on either a stove top or colman stove with a 1qt cast iron pot. Electric pot does make it really convienent though.

Agree with Moonman, secure the tank setup and you'll be good to go. Of course if this is the excuse you were looking for to get something you wanted anyway, then by all means, support the economy!

BTW- This is an example of why I cast standing, not sitting.
