O.K. I just looked through 14 pages using the search function. I cannot find how many Approx. 150grn-160grn. boolits can you get per one pound of wheel weight lead?

Also tring to figure if one were to buy 50 lbs of lead how many boolits approx could you expect casting again 150-160grn boolits?

I choose 150-160 grn because that seemed to be the mid point of what I load for.

Thanks for your help in advance.

There's 7000 grains to a pound so divide it by your bullet weight.

150 grn. = 46.66666667 per lb. x 50 lbs. 2333.333333 bullets. so now you'll need 2333 gas checks.

'Scuse me for being literal but you figurin' on adding any alloy to harden that straight lead just a touch?

boolits per pound of alloy:

Yes, thank you for the great table!

Nice chart but, what alloy is the chart based on?

The chart is based on the actual boolit weight. The alloy doesn't matter.

BTW, the "1K" refers to 1000 boolits, in techspeak.

given the weight of the boolit in grains;

Boolits per pound = 7000 / boolit.wt

Pounds per 1000 boolits = boolit.wt / 7

Ahh. Outstanding. Thanks.

This question often comes up, mainly from people who don't know what a grain weighs relative to other units of weight. Heck, my CELL PHONE calculator can do this conversion.

I wonder if this shouldn't be a sticky? Or info speaking to this question in general, that is.

I load the pot and start casting. When the pot gets low, I add more lead. The boolits go into plastic storage containers. When the containers get low, repeat he process.
