Don't know how long this has been going around but I received this email this morning and thought you might be interested (see attached pics). Sorry, I don't know any details other than what's quoted below. FYI, Conroe is just north of Houston. Which cast boolit/load from your arsenal would you like to have on hand if you ran into this big guy?

Cute little Texas pig ........That was killed in the town of Cut-N-Shoot TX. We call them Piney Wood Rooter's.

Over 1,800 lb. wild boar shot and killed in Conroe , Texas near the
County Airport, East of I-45 and near the community of Cut and Shoot.
Killed by a medical Radiology worker...What would you do if this beast
was coming at you? Run for dear life? Climb a tree or simply get run over?

Yep.......only in Texas ! We were taught to stand still because there eye sight is poor. By standing still they probably would not see you and walk right on by. And No, you can't out run them!! Look at how tall the grass and weed's are. How fast do you think you would be running thru that?

I never give any credit to any game picture that the hunter doesn’t have at least a hand or some part of his body (preferable standing next to with a hand on) in front of the animal. It is too easy to manipulate the picture otherwise.

This boar was actually shot in Turkey in 2005 and was 781 lbs.

Here is an article in The Courier of Montgomery County addressing it as false.

My apologies if I'm perpetuating someone's urban myth. . . so. . . how 'bout posting some pics of your favorite hog harvests?

And just to keep it relevant, tell us about your cast boolit loads for hogs.

there was a similar photo from GA if i recall whick was called a hoax after a while. . but some pigs from one of the baltic states i understand can get to that size. I also may have read it is illegal to import that breed, because of size and temperment

But what a whopper . what does one do, would need front end loader to pick up

Please don't take it as directed at you, it was not. By the way here if FL our average boars are around 100-200lbs with the occasional 300-400lb monster. Our woods are dense so ranges are short. With that said I am boar hunting this year with a Marlin 336 in 35Rem with an RCBS 35-200-FN cast from 50/50 ww/pb over 38 grains of H335.

Wonder if the bacon and hams from that feller are edible?

AB, that IS a nice rifle and boolits peeking out of the brass. I've been wanting me one of those .35's for quite some time. I love my straight-stock 336 .30-30, but it just doesn't pack the freight like the .35 does.

I shoot wild pigs with a Mossberg 590 and 2-3/4" 000 Buckshot. Not elegant, but extremely effective.

This car was small, but it wasn't that small. Photographs can be fooled with.

How big do you think this one is?

I'd guess 500+ pounds. Not because I've ever shot one but because I worked in a hog buying station many years ago. The first Tueday of the month was boar day and the locals would bring in breeding boars that had gotten too big for the sows to support their weight. Looked about like this guy. Took a big one to go 550 and up. RD

BTW as for photos... Photoshop programs make this pretty easy. I have a friend who is a proff. photographer. A couple of years ago he photographed a Nascar model car in his studio. Then he took a picture of the high school senior who built the model in front of a "Green Screen". He added the young man to the car photo and it looked like he was leaning on the car roof. It was used as his senior photo. Incredibly real. RD

My first impression on looking at that photo was A) that certainly doesn't look like a domestically produced pickup, and B) Ain't a ONE of those boys look like Texans, there's not one cowboy hat in the bunch! There was that HogZilla critter that was farm raised an enormous, but sure didn't look like that. Regardless of size though, I don't care if it only weighed 50 pounds, that sucker looks mean, I wouldn't want to see one ANYWHERE.

Yes, this is simular to the "Hogzilla" that was killed in Alapaha Georgia... Amazing what a little work in PhotoShop will do... http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/hogzilla.asp

I'd like to have this stoked in my 44mag.

The penetration on that Full Wadcutter is impressive! I shot 3 5 gallon jugs of water lined up back to back at 30 yds and found the same 44 cal exit hole as I found in the entrance. Looked like it was cut with a cookie cutter. :)

Put the person about 5-10 ft behind, use a wide angle lense. . . . . .
Instant giant "trophy" . Our PH in Africa recommended this method,
all my pix have me or wife with hands on the animal, usually holding the
horns or similar to avoid this baloney. Look at the pic at left as an example.

Pictures CAN lie.
