I bought 3 different Lyman 311284 molds. Every blasted one of them cast undersized bullets. The nose on 1 of them miked .2975 ". Useless in my .30 cal. rifles. ( I guess that was Lyman's best attempt at making a decent .30 cal. mold, I'm probably finished buying newly manufactured Lyman molds in any caliber ).

This NOE 311284 from Swede is so close to perfection, words can't express my current satisfaction with this mold. The rejection rate on this mold is near ZERO, all bullets are filled out well, base fills out well. Most of the bullets fall from the mold without a tap on the hinge pin of the handles.

Bands mike a near perfectly round .314 " The nose mikes .3018 "

If you're looking to buy a mold that is right the 1st time, take a good hard look at NOE ! !

That sure is a purty boolit, Ben. I hope my NOE 22-055 FN casts that good.

They look GREAT. But I have to ask will these work in lets say a Marlin XL-7 in 30-06 or a Rem 700 in 30-06?

When the GB started I was told the nose was a bit too large is this correct?

The nose of .3018 " isn't too large for my 9 different .30 cal. rifles. Works good in all of them.

One of my 100 yd targets with the 311284 and my rem 700

I am happy to see a custom mould maker with a classic design, but the .314 inch driving band is a little too large for me. Can this mould maker produce one that will cast narrower, perhaps to .307 with pure lead, so adding antimony (such as wheelweights or pure antimony ingot I purchased twenty-odd years ago to make my own type metal) will cause it to throw to .309-310 inch? I prefer not to size at all, and have had good success with boolits miking at .001" undersize in rifles. I have moulds which throw oversize and they are more trouble than the ones that throwe under, in my experience, but maybe I am just unlucky.
Thanks

That GB is running again. Is .312" still too big?

That mold would be perfect for a Swiss K31. You should have no trouble finding a buyer for it around here.

Ben,
Just looked at your post in reply to mine. Given the time involved, I'd like to try trading my mould for a mould that someone already has and is having "undersize" issues with. Might solve both our problems and would be less expensive, and possibly faster, than going on the custom route. I'm not averse to spending the money and getting it right the first time with a custom job, but if there's some frustrated mould-holder there who's stuck with a paperweight, I would like to trade if I can.

Disapointed to hear lyman molds cast undersize 311284 bullets as i just bought one 2/7/12.
Plan on shooting them in a model 54 target 30-06, haven't warmed it up yet. I'll post sizes later.
