RCBS 32-170 seated to the crimp groove cycles fine thru my Marlin. I use neck expanded 30-30 brass and the length is about 2.5" . Regards, Woody

I am farily new the loading the 32 Win. Spl. I cast some RCBS -170-FN GC and sized them .323. I loaded them in Remingon 32 W.S. cases over 30/H335 and went shooting. The bullets were crimped in the provided groove and cycled just fine through my 1959 vintage Winchester 94.

The SWAG velocity is about 2.15K fps and accuracy is outstanding. Thus endeth load development for this great rifle.

I have the sights set (Lyman 66) and 100 rounds loaded. This is my grab and go rifle!

Chargar, pretty close to what we did awhile back with 844 (sse castpics load data). Has a little 'authority', does it not? You've got a good load in a great cartridge. I guess I'll never understand why the 32 never was any more popular. sundog

Are there any .32Spl's that have 12" twists? I'd love to own a .32Spl but can't see it as long as I have my 10" twist 30WCF's shootin' 200 grain boolits like mad. Heck I'd even spring for a single shot in .32Spl as long as it had an 11" or 12" twist.

What's the rate of twist for the 8x57 Mauser?

Interesting that you ask that. When I bought my first 32 Spl many years ago, it was a '94 receiver with a rifle forend and a Mauser barrel. Apparently the military barrel was set back and rechambered as it shot fine and there was no indication on the brass of oversize, etc.

It didn't take me long to locate an octagon 32 Spl barrel and swap it out. The barrel had been cut down to ~ 21" and had good rifling, so I've been shooting it for years.

I'd still like to find a full length octagon barrel in good shape on the outside. I would have it relined if the bore wasn't up to par, but I like to keep the original barrel markings.

well guys what i came up with is the following:

30-30 resized to 32ws
federal rifle primers
25 grains of 4198
rcbs 32-170-fn gas checked (177.5 grains)
home lube from mooman76
factory crimped from a lee 30-30 crimper
OAL of 2.47
so hopefully this load should work good for what i need right now. since this is my first batch of reloads im a bit worried. that is why in triple checking to make dure that this sounds right. thanks guys

Good load, but max with 4198 in lever gun. Should be right at 2100. ... felix

so you think i should drop the load down for the next set, it said 24 was the lowest for 4198. so would it be ok to maybe go at 23 or even 22 would that be to low

No, not unless 25 grains is not accurate enough. ... felix
