In the rcbs reloading book that I have, for a 165grain lead bullet using 4064 starting grains is 32 and max is 34grains at 1863 fps. I also have some 150grain lead bullets but there is no recipe using the imr 4064. why not? Anybody have any ideas on how many grains to use? thanks, bushwack

Use the same load for starters. Use circa loads to hone in on accuracy. You are at the low end of that powder range in that case, so use a filler like pillow stuffing, just enough to hold powder and primer together. ... felix

Don't know if this helps but you can also use IMR3031 starting at 29g to 42g. vel of 1710-2469. Just be careful and don't crimp the boolit or the pressures will be a bit much. Just keep an eye on the primers if they flatten out pressure is too high.
