LEE’s Most Useful .30 cal. Mold.
C312-185-1R #90371.
[smilie=w:

Why? The almost innumerable things you can do with what it casts!

Quite aside from all the multitudes of variations the reloader can have by varying cases, primers, powders and powder charges, and seating depths………………

Quite aside from the fact that, with a simple hardware store 5/16’ dia. drill he can convert a cavity from its factory gas-check design to a plain base design…………

HE CAN VARY THE PRODUCT HE CASTS IN SO MANY WAYS………………..!

I have yet to purchase a LEE mold that cast up to its advertised diameter: ALL have cast ~1/1000” undersized with MY plain wheelweight alloy, so……………..

1. He can cast from it as received and use THAT for “30 cals”……………………..
2. He can ‘Beagle’ the mold ‘some’ or ‘a little’ for larger diameter boolits…………
3. He can vary his alloy to make ‘harder’, ‘softer’ or ‘easier-to-cast’ boolits……….
4. He can air-cool or water-drop without changing his alloy…………………………

Once he has some of those,

5. He can size (or NOT size) them anywhere between, .308” to .314” diameter…
6. He can Paper Patch up to .321” or .323” diameter for ‘.32’s’ and 8mm’s…….
7. He can ‘bump’ a flat point on it for a lever gun…………………………………….
8. He can put a hollow point in that flat point………………………………………….
9. He can use any one of a large number of available lubricants…………………...

and finally………..

10. He can go CRAZY just making these decisions and testing out the results!

Multiplying the above by the number of molds on your bench, the newbie can understand why some of us ‘more experienced’ casters may seem “jest a leetle bit weird’!:bigsmyl2:

And after doing all that, you can shoot them too.

As I said........."testing them out'.
