People here often say it's easy and the best solution to use a throating reamer on a short chamber.

O.K. I wanna do that to a couple of my rifles. Where does one purchase such a reamer???

Thanks!

I'd look first to Brownell's.

I bought a 30 cal from Dave Manson.
Make sure to get removable pilot version.
For instance Swiss K-31 uses .299 and US uses .30 or some similar difference!

As Ricochet stated above Brownells has a couple brands. Manson and Clymer and maybe others.

The one my brother got was through Brownells. It was a Manson, and it sure worked slick.

What about renting a reamer from 4D or Elk Ridge Reamer Rentals

Is 4D still in business? Heard they went out. I used them some time back and was quite satified.

Unless you know what you're doing, it's easy to ream an off center throat. Best is with a lathe so you can ream in on centers. By hand is a little more problematic because without something to align it straight with the chamber (even with a piloted reamer) you can ream the rifling off on one side and leave it in place on the other.

Remember; measure twice, cut once. Don't get in a goshawful hurry about it and proceed carefully. A crooked throat is a bugger to fix without cutting off the chamber and rechambering.

Gunsmithing rules for precision: Measure with a Micrometer. Mark with chalk. Cut with a die grinder.
