I just loaded some Territory Bullets- lead flat nose by Speer in 38 caliber, but I didnt apply any lube.

I have a supply of lubed bullets ready to go, but I grabbed these and loaded them instead. Im just getting started in loading cast, so Im not sure if I messed up.

There are no lube grooves, so the lube would just be coated on the outside of the bullet.

Did I hose up?

Thanks,

The Speer bullet is lubed from the factory, shoot them. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQY/is_1_48/ai_80635886/

I’m not familiar with those bullets, but I would think any lead bullets from Speer would be pre-lubed. The lube may be no more than a light overall coating that’s hard to see, but it should be there.

If they are like the Speer wadcutters, they have a sort of waxy white powdery coating on them. load 'em and shoot 'em.

I did find an article that stated that they were lubed, but they seemed pretty dry when I handled them.

I didnt load them hot - 800 fps (book) maybe, but I was just worried that I would have a major leading problem.

Thank you for your replies,

It's a very thin coating of wax, something like on .22 bullets. Works well up to around 900 FPS, not much more without leading. I've shot an awful lot of those Speer bullets in .38 and .44.
