While starting and maximums for every powder imaginable are easily found the one thing I'm always looking for is squib loads.

Either low recoil, low grain projectiles, or just plain cheapest load everyone can use a load in every caliber that isn't balls to the wall, brass flowing, neck splitting hunting loads.

Any loads are welcome but try to cover all calibers, even if someone already hit one in a different caliber or grain.

Let the listing begin! [smilie=w:

Why would you want a squib load? From my understanding a squib load is when your boolit gets stuck in the barrel.

Squib loads were developed by a Mr Squib in the early 20th century meaning a low velocity, light recoiling load. Good idea for a sticky.

A squib load is on purpose. Unofficial cut point is 50% of a factory load to just clearing the barrel unless you want to class ultra lite loads in a different category. I have also heard the speed of sound as a cut point but that would include some factory pistol rounds.

My favorites are :

30 30.............................311 round ball 3 grains red dot

357 mag..........................36 round ball 4 grains of unique

270.................................lee 125 grain with gas check and 12.5 grains of unique

All are highly accurate in my rifles and shoot to point of aim at 25 yards and 2 min low at 50 yards when sighted in with my hunting load. (2 min low is the beginning of the fine vertical cross hair on my scope.) I have some other rifles that will shoot small groups but I have not worked out the point of impact problem yet.

Others may have different standards for their own uses.

MT G beat me to it. I am a slow typer.

30-06 Springfield ............ seven point five grians of Universal Clays and a Lyman 311466 . It's maybe in the high end of the squibs you are looking for but I don't think it's above eleven hundred feet per second .

30-40 krag or .30-30 size "0" buckshot with 3.0 of red dot.

Also both work well with a .311291 sans gas check over 6.0 red dot.

My favorite and most accurate low vel load for the 30-06 in my 03A3. 5.9 grs of bullseye and just about any cast boolit I load in the case, but by far my barrel likes the lee 155 gr spitzer w/o the gas check, Honest 2 moa 10 shot groups. no filler no wad just load ,shoot and enjoy.

A propos what rhead & MT Gianni wrote, squib loads are sometimes referred to as "cat sneeze" or "mouse fart" by our members. Perhaps a search using these terms would turn up some additional data?
