I picked up a 224-450 (225-450 after the ideal/lyman switch) back in june, and did some casting with it before I left for Guatemala in August, but never got to shoot it until today.

I loaded some up with Reloader7 and took my old stevens 322 to the range.

Load: 11.7 grains Reloader7, new RP brass, 224-450, sized .224, cast from linotype, LLA, lyman GC.

This was my first load tried, and I was shooting open sights at 50 yards for the 4 shot group (no real reason for 4 shots, just what I did)

It's probably a fluke, as I can't normally hold less than 1" at 50 yards with open sights, but I was pretty happy with it! (the same can't be said for my .357 loads I tried... 5" at 50 yards aint so hot!)

looks like your on the right track. That Boolit is a winner in most any .22 cal rifle I've tried them in. Sometimes playing with different sizing dies or even using a 6mm gas check helps also. With that same boolit my records show the 224450 doing extremely well with 5gr of Unique, 6.5gr of Blue Dot, 8gr of WW680 which would be AA1680 now unless you've got some of the old Winchester powder. All those velocity's hover just over 2000fps.

The 225450 was not the 22 bullet mold Lyman was pushing. They were having more sales with 225438, 225415, and 225462, and by now for the adventurous types 225646.

The loaded 225450 looks sleek and dynamic like it should shoot well. Hard to find that number I look but no luck yet. I like 22 and 6 molds in singles for quality control purposes. I would try 225450 with ww and lino for accuracy shooting. I load most all my small cast first with Unique. Other good powders for small cast bullets would be Red Dot, 2400, PB, 4198, 4227, and 4759.

They're good little boolits, and they stabilize pretty well in the 1-16 twist of my old hornet...

They do look pretty neat all loaded up too!
