I was bored today, so I put myself to a little test. I wanted to see how fast I could size 50 boolits in my RCBS sizer. Boolits were .358 158gr RN TL. I took from a small jar, sized them and placed them into one of those plastic things commercial ammo comes in.

I did it in 2 minutes and 11 seconds [smilie=w:

I dare all of you to out-size me he he [smilie=s:

i use sizing as time to inspect and cull . so no hurry IMO make better bullets

When I try to hurry, I forget to let go of the boolit before I pull the handle -- ouch!!!

My SAECO will produce that in half of the time and my two Stars will do it in less than 1/4 of the time. I've never timed them but you ain't got a chance with your RCBS/Lyman/Lee sizers.

I never really timed it. I did 660+ in a half hour or so. Pushed through a LEE size die.

I find that if I hurry stuff happens. Besides, I enjoy all the aspects of smelting, casting, sizing/lubing, brass processing and reloading.

Too, I've acquired patience. Or does that happen naturally, as the years on the calendar change?

I cast, checked and sized 22 pounds of 44 Cal. 265 grain RNFPGC TL RD boolits, checked and sized a couple of hundred 7mm Lyman 150 grain Loverns this afternoon and evening.

NBot sure how long you could sustain that pace but I can easily do 1800 in an a hour on my Star, done it many, many times. I must admit though, I do not stack them but just dump them in a box.

I know the stars are fast. And if they weren't so expensive by the time they reach Denmark I would have bought one long ago.

The reason I place them in the plastic thing is that I can keep better track on how many I got. And I like the fact that they stand in line line a platoon of soldiors he he. I tried the other thing as well... but the boolits got lube all over them, and I don't like greasy cartridges!

i have 50 tubes for the boolit feeders each holds between 55-60 boolits.
i have sla.. errr children that can spot a bad casting at 10 feet.
they watch the tv in the casting shop and fill tubes, i size one day a month set up all three stars one for say 45 one for 38 [i have 50 small tubes also] and size till i need lube then refill the lube and switch machines.
the third is for g/c and rifle use.
if you were providing boolits for 5-6 people you'd find speed too.

I figure about an hour to lube and size 50! :-)
But that will be 50 bullseyes or in 50 years, 50 deer!

Depending on the weather and other things. I'll sit on the front porch and cast 5 to 20 pounds of .358-120 gr. rn. Tumble them in a plastic jar with liq. alox and spread them on wax papered boards. Let them cure in an unused upstairs room for a few days. Move reloading bench to living room and watch some tv while swaging the boolits. When finished, place die parts in snack baggy and spray with wd-40. A few days later, wash with hot soapy water and spray with oil. Wipe down, assemble and replace in kit.

The boys, 19 and 23, want to go shooting again. BUT!!! there are 15 pounds of boolits that need swagging. 1700 .38 spl. cases needing to be primed and loaded from their last shooting dates. So, no shooting til they can get off their big A's and help!

Don't care how fast I can do anything! I find a speed that is satisfactory and stay with it for what ever I do, and don't loose any sleep about keeping up with the Jone's or anybody else for that matter.
