Finally got a chance to go to the range today. Last month worth of weekends were derailed by work and a hurt foot, one or ta other. I had a blast and chrony'd 16 loads. 6 different 45/70 1895G loads one of which was sized to .460 (courtesy Buckshot, size die) and those bullets seriously overshadowed similar or identical loads that were sized .457. Whoa, the difference! With no leading either (Until time to shoot up the 457's I had left.)

The best load was with Lyman 457643 400g FN sized 460 over 41.5g of RX7.

At 10 ft., 10 rounds avg'd 1605 fps
Extreme Spread 67 fps
AVG Dev. 15 fps

~3" at 108 yds with iron peeps. That's outstanding for me with my newish 95G. I'm on my way with that gun, thanks to you guys. Who knows how long I'da continued shooting those 457's? Thanks a bunch.

60 rnds of 45/70 make me shoulder sore. ;>)

...............Well, you're part of the board too, so consider that when I say us here on this board are just the Bee's Knee's, aint we? :-)

I can just imagine the guys from overseas saying, "Bee's Knee's? Whuzzat? Issat like the Bull's Butt?"

HA!

Hell, Buckshot, even the young whippersnappers on the board aren't going to recognize it. My mother used to say that when I was a little kid, and she's 30 years gone now. It has the sound of one of her Irish mother's sayings. :) "Bees' knees and thrushes' ankles" was the answer we got when we asked what the "mystery meal" cooking in the oven was - always a warning to see if we could get invited to a friend's house for dinner!

Yep, this board is clearly the best I've been on, bar none!

So many test's yesterday. New eyes (Lasik), Happy trigger for the 95G, oversized boolits, cheekpad for the 95, Function test of freshly rebuilt 45acp, some ultra reduced 44 Specials, and a few loads for the AR-15 (good consistent loads but that trigger has got to go, so much creep.)

Found a great new place to shoot! In a bowl, rim to rim is 500 yds and very private. I kept it to 108 yds though, for now.

I better go start cleaning...
