Team.

I just came into about 150 once fired .303 Brit cases for the price of two cups of coffee. They are..........wait for it..........1943 vintage Canadian manufacture and the war time quality is easily as good as modern brass, probably BETTER. All the flash holes are perfectly centred and the neck annealing is soft as the day it was done. I am presently reaming the primer pockets to remove the crimp, uniforming the flash holes and champhering the necks. Quite a job but you only do it once.

Nice score!!

Crimp removal and primer pocket uniforming is something I do while watching football.
Your right you only do it once.

Nice one!:drinks:

That 38/303 Hawkins case you sent me is of 1943 vintage and seems in perfect condition. I can't help wondering how many times it has been fired!

I'm surprised they're Boxer primed.

I've got some 1944 D.I. that apparently is immortal; I have lost track of the number of times I've reloaded it. It was originally MkVII Ball in 48-round boxes which I cheerfully burned up in my Lithgow No. 1 MkIII*. The only failures have been burn-throughs at the blasted stab (or segmental; you choose) crimp.

You're right, Jeff; it's better than the junque we get now.

I was lucky enough to pick up 400 rounds of HXP the other day $40 per hundred in clips and bandoliers cheaper than unprimed brass!!!!

Anything made by Dominion Industries in Canukistan is good stuff. I have fifty .30-40 Krag empties stamped DI and they are some of the best I have. (They weren't empties when I got 'em.)

Congrats on a good score. Assuming of course, that Boxer primers are easily available in En Zed.

Jeff's score is DI. He really did do well there! Learning a little history behind the case he sent me (a DI case necked up to 38 Hawkins) is great!

In 1963 my wife and myself went to Vancouver on our honeymoon. While there I purchased a box of Dominon 357 Magnum. Thirty rounds of those dead soft slugs leade the barrel of my Ruger Blackhawk from one end to the other. The brass was excellent however. I loaded rather moderate loads and used the brass for several years. One day some fellow came along that was desperate for 357 brass and offered me about half of what I had paid for the loaded ammo. They became his. I have several boxes of Dominion brass that I intend to neck down to 25-303 as I need more brass for that rifle. I have owned several rifles chambered for the 6.5X53R cartridge and much of the brass was formed from WWII Dominion brass. Incidentally, some of the best 303 brass that I have owned had the Herters headstamp. I have no proof who made the cases. Some sources state that Norma made it but others say that it was produced by Hirtenurger. Maye both or neither made them but the cases that I own are great. Neil

(smlekid throws bucket of water on JeffinNZ) you ok now Mate?????
it was a sad story really a club member who is no longer with us has some of his gear sold pretty much for what he paid for it so I was lucky but also sad not the best way to get hold of stuff :(
