So I've been doing handgun loading for a while no big deal. Never done rifle reloading. My best friend has an M4 and I hope to get one soon. We'd like to start reloading for it, but I was hoping for some lead recipes from you guys/gals. WW is the hardest thing I have at the moment. Is it feasible to cast with just WW given the velocity? Is something harder needed? Air/water cooled?

Thanks.

If you water drop WW+2% tin, you should get something in the 20's on the BNH scale. That should be enough for up to around 2400ish fps. I've even had good results as low as 13BNH in the .223 with a gas check.

Start around 2,000fps & work up from there. Try to seat the boolit out until it touches the lands. That seems especially important for the little .22's

Look up Beagle's post on the subject over on the cast pics section of the website. That 3-part series has a wealth of info on loading the .223.

There is a banner for Castpics on the bottom of the page. Go there and look under articles on the menu on the left. Billy

think i'd try a bit easier rifle cartridge first, one a bit more forgiving.
