I know this will probably be worse than a starting a which caliber is better post but I am looking for some input. I recently aquired a Pedersoli 1874 Silhoutte Standard in 45-70. It has a 6 groove, 32" barrel, with 1:18 twist. I have been loading for both an H&R and a Marlin 1895 Cowboy. These have all been FP from 300 to 405gr. I am looking for something a little better suited to the Sharps. I will load both BP and smokeless, as well as duplex loads.

The lyman 457132 is one that all 45-70 shooters should have in the group of molds that they use. It's the Postell and is used for those far away targets that your rifle will reach.

RCBS makes a 530gr Postell that works well in my Pedersoli when cast in 20:1.

The Lyman 535 Postell shoots very well in my #1 over 22 gr. of 2400 w/dac fill. Will stay well under 2" at 100.
